Well, hard at work reorganizing the family biz, Theatre 80. One of the big projects was to realize me da's dream of having a full licence for the tap room in the theater, the bar put in in 1922, when it was a speakeasy. The happy news is that we are now slinging booze, and soon will be hosting Sunday evening Celtic and folk nights... may even play sometimes myself. We are featuring a wee drink I invented (I hope) and named after a wee girl from a great song, Jack Hagerty... The Molly Tucker, is a drink based in Rye and apples, which like the girl in the song, sometimes kicks. Well... folks and folkies, drop in for a tune and a dram. By the way... we are also now presenting, in the theater, Silence, a musical comedy version of Silence of the Lambs... very funny. All the best Lorcan |
13 Jul 11 - 09:41 AM (#3186667) Subject: RE: InOBU opens his music & theater pub From: InOBU PS After a bit of Mudcatting, I see the touchstone version is a wee bit off... so the drink, as of this writing is now renamed, the Annie Tucker... as per the origional flat river girl's name. Still can kick... Lor |

(Couldn't see any on the 'photos' page). Shame it's so far away - I have a sneaky liking for magic shows, even though I know how most of it's done! |

I used to go to old movies there when I lived in NYC in the late 70s, early 80s. Was it your family then? Small world! That's the first time I ever saw the Wizard of Oz in color! I'd only seen it on the family black and white television before then. SRS |

13 Jul 11 - 08:21 PM (#3187123) Subject: RE: InOBU opens his music & theater pub From: GUEST,Guest,Zhenya How will the Celtic / folk crowd recognize the name if you change Molly to Annie?! Touchstone and Mick Hanly both sing it as Molly. I see one of the Mudcat versions doesn't have a woman's name at all, but reads "My thoughts were on money"! Seriously, congratulations and I hope to go to some of those Sunday events, among other things. Will there be singing as well as tunes? I know you do both. Zhenya ( aka Harriet from Dempsey's, although I've not been there recently.) |
