Whitby FF Esk Belle Trip

16 Jul 11 - 04:12 AM (#3188638)
Subject: Whitby FF Esk Belle Trip
From: GUEST,Raggytash

We will be hosting our annual "singing" trip out to sea on the Esk Belle again this year on Tuesday 23rd August to raise money for the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat, all manner of maritime songs and tunes are welcome.

A two hour trip along the coast up to Runswick Bay out to sea and back to Whitby, sadly we will not be able to land at Staithes as in previous years, the tides will not allow it.

Boarding at 4.45pm to set sail 5.00pm for a two hour trip returning to Whitby at 7.00pm.

As always places are limited and thus tickets must be procured from Wombat or myself prior to boarding or reserved in advance.

The cost will be £10 per ticket and as no PM's are available at the moment will let me know through this thread if you want a place.

There is also a "special" mystery raffle prize up for grabs !

Cheers

Raggytash

We are normally asked by the Skipper to limit numbers to 80, however as we cannot berth in Staithes he may well allow a few more. The boat is licensed for over 100, but with people carrying instruments, and the fact that we are putting on a ounce or two as we age (or is that just me ? heaven forfend!) he will not want to exceed this number greatly. I could be mistaken but I suspect the more ounces we amass the more diesel he uses !.

Depending if any have bothered to turn up this year that is!

Whales: A little bit early in the season yet. The commercial fishing boats are starting to report them arriving, but still rather too far offshore for us to visit.
There was a single, brief, sighting from the Belle on Saturday, but it tends to have reached September before we get any number coming closer in.
I will post more if they start to arrive early.

An interesting trip out last night, the Rescue Boat came out to greet us and we raised £207, many thanks to all who contributed to a great trip especially Gill (Bedworth Folk Festival) for all her help and support. Added to the monies riased on the Glaisdale train the total figure now stands at £375.25.

Bloody hell, I have to look that one up, I think that would have a better chance of affecting the weather by talking to Zeus or Hera than I would trying to trying to alter Europeanm, American or Indo-Chinese policy on atmospheric pollution.

All taken on deck in the mist, wind and drizzle. Got some shots of leaving harbour, returning and also the lifeboat coming out to greet the boat.
Send a PM to let us know where to send stuff.
Quack!
Geoff.
