The mail came today with a Proctor Silex iron carefully sealed in tape. Inside was a silver creamer with matching sugar bowl - simple, elegant and perfect,
Dan, I can't begin to thank you. And everytime I use them I will think kindly of you.

How sweet! Did you get an iron, too, or was it just in a Proctor Silex box?

Dan is an A-ONE Mudcatter in my book!

I think he has an exterior motive. I think he wants Mary to iron and cook for him. He's a crafty devil. I'd be leary of the likes a that one SINS. Mark my word. He's up ta no good.

Why, he even sent me an autographed pic of yer superbowl MVP Tom Brady... signed to ME! I figure Dan is looking for me to mow his lawn or sommat, the sly fox. Wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Keep an arm's reach lass.

...and in my mail a week or two ago was a selection of half a dozen or so railroaders log books where the guys accounted for their time when working. Basic stuff like "Greased the flanges on the tender" --- and "Cleared the snow from station platform."
These were from 1910 and 1911. It was a subtle window into another era that I recreated with my music for 40 years.

Dan, again thank you so much!

18 Jul 11 - 09:41 AM (#3190011)
Subject: RE: Old Dude, I am Speechless...
From: GUEST,999

Pineapple Jello. It's my understanding that something in the pineapple prevents the Jello from setting, but there is a way to add it but I don't know what that way is. Personally, I'd rather drink flat beer or horse pee than eat pineapple Jello. Dan is one strange dude, but the packages go into the mail when I get back to Canada.

It's the acid in the pineapple. You can use canned pineapple, though. I'm eaten it. The texture is kinda like eating very soft wood chips in a blob of quivering fat. I'm sure Dan would love it.

Elton John said it best in his song friends ..

I hope the day will be a lighter highway
For friends are found on every road
Can you ever think of any better way
For the lost and weary travellers to go

chorus:
Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand you will see the light
If your friends are there then everything's all right

It seems to me a crime that we should age
These fragile times should never slip us by
A time you never can or shall erase
As friends together watch their childhood fly

Pineapple contains papain, an enzyme that digests protein (the same stuff that's in meat tenderizer) since gelatin is a protein (essentially denatured collagen) it will be broken down by the enzyme.

so true Bob, I break down also every time I see the stuff !!!

Thread drift - because there ain't no pm available right now and Dan is likely to check in.

Dan, I have one or two older laptops and one Dell desktop - all of which work but are so old as to be virtually not functional in today's computing environment. Am preparing to toss them, once I figure out how to save any essential files on them - I'm a muggle in that department and it could take a while. Not sure at all they could be upgraded sufficiently to be of use to some one unable to afford a computer otherwise, but gather you do that sort of thing when feasible to help folks out who really need a computer. If they might be useful to you, please write to me at endresgardenaol?dot?com. I'll try to give you enough information so that you can decide if you want them to upgrade and donate to some one who could use them.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

Thank you honey, I think we will be in good shape, the big client of mine is going to retire about 11 machines and they are all top notch. I think they plan on doing that in September. I would not have to upgrade any of them as they are only 3 or 4 years old. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. That is so kind of you. When they do upgrade I will let people here know in case someone needs one as they always give me their old ones

Love Dan

Old dude, I fix up old fiddles and cellos (I have no tools for a bass) and them get them to the Strathmore for kids to play or schools to use. Sometimes I can enhance them acousticly and aestheticly. If not they are parts for a Frankenfiddle.

IF you have any such items that might even look like they are too far gone, I can fix em and get them used.

I would have asked you by PM this but it is temporarily disabled.

I am fortunate to have regained my strength to continue where I left off.
