18 Jul 11 - 09:14 PM (#3190391) Subject: BS: Compromise, fact or fiction? From: Donuel Since April there have been efforts to find a compromise to keep the economies of the world afloat or to allow the pure tea party ideals to prevail and quadruple interest rates on everything and sink the dollar. Their way or the highway, you know, scratch my back and I get my back scratched. But this is not what this interactive essay is all about. It's about how compromise expresses itself in your everyday life. How often does a billing dispute you have with a corporation end with a compromise? I bet it does sometimes. You compromise while driving, those who do not may be having a road rage moment. I am assuming that day to day compromise is done without thinking about it. Maybe it is a rare event for some but all you need do is look at spousal compromises, big and small. So why is it that Republicans is anathema or akin to eating a dog shit sandwich. SO much so that Republicans are called staunch, not to be confused with raunch, but they do sometimes overlap in both parties. I have heard explanations that Washigtom used to compromise because the Congress people and Senators ised to all live in Washington out of necessity and difficulty in commuting across the country to their home districts. They lunched together, had little league together and genberally got together as neighbors as much as esteemed colleagues. Today they all fly home, work only 3 days a week in DC and then only meet with the extreamists that give them the most praise and positive photo ops. They then have their own select network to get pre arranged questions that cast them in the best light. I will go one step further to offer an explanation as to why compromise has become as rare as a blue fin tuna. IT has to do with the way the universe works. Yep, if you know anything about the split screen photon beam experiment you might see where I am going. As long as we don't look at the experiment and try to measure or count the photons they act in a natural way a wave would act and show an elegant display of stripes growing brighter in the middle and fading to each side. BUT if we watch each photon and measure its path the resulting design on the screen will be only two lines on the screen, having behaved like particles. With 24/7 news agencies watching and all the efforts being made to measure each representative in COngress in terms of money, votes, words, outbursts and TV appearances, the more these people are locked into performing like individual particles and not a flexible wave. OK now you can either scoff or take a deep breath and breathe out "brilliant". "Combining anthropology with psychology and quantum physics? You must be mad." Nope I'm not even angry, except at the ignorant conservative ideologs who know not the damage they are about to do. I believe compromise exists, as long as we don't analyze it too much. I also believe that by bigoted attitudes and the laws of the universe itself compromise does not exist. Schroders cat might understand it better than I do but compromise is a sticky wicket whether you think it is an honorable arrangement of mutual dissatisfaction or a dog shit sandwich. |

From: Donuel Of course taking rigid pledges and equating a political point with believing in Jesus and a whole bunch of other think tank strategies to make the 2% of wealthy America control 51%, are also all valid reasons why DC is witnessing the extinction of compromise. |
