29 Jul 11 - 12:52 PM (#3197979) Subject: BS: Dinosaurs - edible or not? From: Wesley S Maybe I've got too much time on my hands. But this morning I was wondering if dinosaurs were good to eat - and what they tasted like. It would have made hunting a lot easier. You kill one and you'd have meat for ages. Two or three a year and you were set. But how do you cook dinosaur meat? The closest thing I've had is gator tail. Prepaired with garlic and lemons tied up inside and cooked on a rotisserie. Of course that would make any meat taste better. And you also have to wonder - what wine do you serve with dinosaur? Red or white? Is there light and dark meat on the same animal? And sidedishs - beans, potato salad - or a green salad and baked potato? It boggles the mind. |

29 Jul 11 - 01:02 PM (#3197981) Subject: RE: BS: Dinosaurs - edible or not? From: GUEST, topsie When 'dining on dinosaur' the vegetables would have to come from plants that were around at the same time as dinosaurs. Anyone know what they would be? Fiddle-head ferns maybe? You could make a fair-sized omelette from a dinosaur egg. |

Get yourself a Sinosauropteryx "Sinosauropteryx was a small bipedal theropod, noted for its short arms, large first finger (thumb), and long tail. It is among the smallest known non-avian theropods, with the holotype specimen measuring only 68 cm (27 in) in length, including the tail.[2] This individual was relatively young.[3] The longest known specimen reaches up to 1.07 m (3.5 ft) in length, with an estimated weight of 0.55 kg (1.2 lb)." |

29 Jul 11 - 02:25 PM (#3198025) Subject: RE: BS: Dinosaurs - edible or not? From: Jack the Sailor The current theory is that Dinos were most closely related to birds is it not? After that I guess, as in mammals and birds, their taste would depend on their forage. I would imagine that the scavengers and predators would be too gamy to eat the big plant eaters would taste like ostrich, the small ones like chicken. 'Dinosaurs' came in all sizes...from bite-sized up to "Honey, we need another freezer" Wouldn't there also be? "We'd better eat this before it spoils. Lets invite Pittsburgh over for a cookout. |

Pine nut seasoning would get a bit boring by the time you finished eating an apatosaur. |
