01 Aug 11 - 03:50 AM (#3199489) Subject: Guitar Tab accompaniement From: The Maverick There once was a fantastic site weeguitar.com that had tabs to the guitar accompaniment of Dougie Macleans songs. I had an email with Jennifer Maclean last week, and it appears he is working on something new to replace it. However because it was so good, I have got stuck in learning those songs and absolutly no others. Are there any websites at all in this ilk with guitar accomapiment for songs? i.e. I don't want to play the tunes, just an interesting pick to sing over. Perhaps in a range of tunings. |

If only there was a good "Folk" site that did actually provide you with this rather than just the basic chords. I've been searching for years for such a site without success. Unless you are happy picking up the ocassional folky pop song to be found on such sites as Chordie.com and Ultimate-guitar.com I'm afraid you are resigned to trying to learn them for yourself. I'd love to find a site(s) where I could find TAB to songs of Eric Bogle, Show Of Hands, Harvey Andrews, Gordon Bok, John Conolly etc, etc, but, for the most part, they are simply not there. I've even been able to contact some of the writers of these songs but again, for the most part, I am told they make it up as they go along. Which is fine if your an accomplished player but not, if you are like me and struggling to get away from a simple ripple pick. If there is anyone out there who could recommend a good site or two, itwould certainly be appreciated by me. |

01 Aug 11 - 01:23 PM (#3199825) Subject: RE: Guitar Tab accompaniement From: The Sandman Try playing bass then treble,four times, as if you were in 4 /4 then plucking on first beat simultaneously two notes,when you have acheived this it will take some time then try reversing this,so that you play a half beat with finger followed by thumb, your aim should be to play thumb then treble or treble then thumb, or both together, then you will be on route to melody picking in 4/4while keeping a bass going |

02 Aug 11 - 11:52 AM (#3200187) Subject: RE: Guitar Tab accompaniement From: The Sandman ok, play with your thumb 5 string down, pluck up your 3 string with a finger, with your thumb play 4 string down, pluck up your second string, this should be 4 half beats or quavers. repeat this 5 thumb but this time pluck up 2 string, thumb down on 4 string , pluck up on one string 4 half beats or quavers. now repeat all this but start with your finger and follow with your thumb. now repeat the very first description but on each first beat play two strings simultaeneously, instead of one after another, that is the basis for melody picking,try the major keys of c g a e and d, but before you melody pick you will be learning to pick to a pattern with a steady bass either on the beat[number one description] or off the beat number 2 description. |
