"Dinner With Don Cherry"

- A small time Canadian writer and sports biographer has dinner at the local sports bar with his old friend Don Cherry, the legendary hockey commentator, a man whom he has not seen in the last 15 years. They share wit and wisdom about life, love, death, sports, and destiny. Shot on one simple set at Montana's steakhouse in North Bay, Ontario, this movie will dazzle you with its unexpected depth and meaning. An unforgettable way to spend 2 hours of your life!!! No one should miss this film.

That would definitely be touched upon in the film "Dinner With Don Cherry", but in a subtle way. It wouldn't be directly alluded to, it would just be there.

Do you dig subtlety, Jack? ;-) I do. I think subtlety is the soul of humour.

I probably wouldn't either. It has too narrow a theme to sustain my interest for a whole movie.

I admit to being a little bit apprehensive about the upcoming Superman movie. A British actor has been cast, but if he has any acting chops, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt - after all, look at Hugh Laurie. There are lots of folks here in the States who never saw him in his "Jeeves & Wooster" days, or in "Blackadder," and were shocked to find out he was not American. So, ultimately, I guess I'll give the new Supie a chance.

What really worries me is his costume. After seeing the changes in the last Superman's uniform - where, among other things, his trunks shrunk to little more than a Speedo, I'm afraid the next film might find the Man of Steel wearing a red thong. Yuck.

But, films that shouldn't be made?

Caesar and Cleopatra starring Mickey Rooney and Roseanne Barr

Lawrence of Arabia starring Jim Carrey

Hamlet starring Gilbert Gottfried

A Streetcar Named Desire starring Fran Drescher

The list could go on and on...
