Martin HD35

Before I put this lovely guitar on eBay I am offering mudcatters the opportunity to buy it. I'm not wanting a ridiculous amount for it so if you're interested in offering a sensible amount please pm me for more details. I am based in South Yorkshire UK.

I wish you luck. I've been trying to sell my D28 for 2 years, and all I have had is silly offers. Good job I'm not broke!

Well, if you have been trying for two years and only had 'silly' offers then either one of two things. The Guitar is not all that nice or - you are asking too much for it and the offers are not 'silly' at all. D28's are difficult as most people would rather spend an extra couple of hundred quid to get the HD28. If you are asking much more than £1000.00 for one in pretty mint condition, you will never sell it. Shame really, they are a superb guitar and better than most of the competition - Taylor, Gibson etc.

How much for the D35?

The guitar is in very good condition, I paid £1,400.00 for it but I don't play it. I have a Lowden and have got used to the wider neck so the Martin spends most of the time in its case. I started using it tuned in C Modal and it does actually sound gorgeous, however my repertoire of 2 songs doesn't really warrant even carrying it to a gig.

Hence the sale.

Good owner required to do this lovely guitar justice. It just wants to be played. No other reason to sell.

Just for the record I paid twice that for the Lowden!

I can confirm, I'm acquainted with Pulseroom's HD-35, and it does sound superb. If I hadn't recently bought an HD-28V, I'd have made you an offer, Ian. Unfortunately, I don't need two Dreads, even Martins (top-banana though they are)..

Some of us are poor . . . we can only afford bog standard D-28s (no! please don't get emotional, it's embarrassing).

It's just one of those things you just have to put up with.

Best of luck with the 'surplus' HD35. ;o)

Well, in truth, there is hardly any difference in the sound of a D28 or a HD28 in my opinion, but that herringbone binding...
Nothing bog standard about 'em, the only guitar that I have ever heard that comes close is the Lowden.

I've got both....HD-28V and Lowden O-25.
Completely different animals, both visually and sound-wise.

Now you're just showing off.

Which do you prefer? I was torn when I bought my HD28V, as you say they are very different, but both have that indefuinable 'presence'.

Prefer? Neither! Horses for different courses, AFAIC.

I play the HD more than the Lowden, because I bought it to use in the band and at sessions, and it fits those scenarios very well indeed. It's a very 'smooth' sound compared with the Lowden, which is louder and more 'woody' - suited to finger-picking. Having said that, I do also finger-pick the HD, and of course the OM (which is a more 'focussed' version of the HD's 'Martin' tone).

All great guitars - as is Pulseroom's HD-35 which he started this thread in the hope of selling, before we hi-jacked it!

Sorry Ian! See you in October, hopefully!

Well said BWM.

It's OK I'm used to the mudcat forum operating in this way.

It's on Ebay!

I'll keep it if it doesn't sell obviously but I would rather someone have it that's going to play it.

Take care.
