Does anyone know of a good recording of the song The Poor Old Weaver's Daughter? I've been having a great deal of difficulty tracking one down.

Do you need the recording to get the tune? (I'm asking because usually when folks are looking for something they have an end game in mind.)

I'm trying to be helpful, not rude.

To 999: I had seen the tune written several ways, and was curious to know what it sounded like (particularly as performed by someone with more musical talent than I). I'm not sure what you mean by end-game. I just wanted to hear a nice version of the some.

To padgett - thank you very much! :-)

Fay Hield - The Poor Old Weaver's Daughter - Bristol Folk Festival

Go to Youtube and listen to that version, also.

Jon Boden sang The Weavers's Daughter as the March 10 entry of A Folk Song a Day. The recording is still online.

Ray has already pointed out the Yorkshire Garland site, but just for the record here is a link to Roger Hinchliffe singing The Poor Old Weaver's Daughter.

There are other recordings available, but not online. Will Noble recorded it on a Veteran cassette tape and this has been reissued on a compilation CD It Was On A Market Day Vol. 2 VTC7CD by Veteran.

Will learned it from Roger's father, Frank Hinchliffe, and a recording of it was included on the Topic LP of Frank's songs In Sheffield Park which perhaps they may one day re-release as a digital download. (Hint, hint!)

A recording of George 'Pop' Maynard singing it is available from Topic for download on Ye Subjects of England, and or you can buy the CD which includes the song from Topic in their Voice of the People Series TSCD655 Come All My Lads That Follow the Plough.

Musical Traditions have another two CDs with recordings of Pop Maynard singing the song: MTCD 309-10 Just Another Saturday Night, and MTCD 401-2 Down the Cherry Tree.

Thanks to all for bringing this song up. I've found the tune and added it to my collection of songs for the D flute. I was just playing it, and it's charming.
