We have a controversial ballad chosen for August, an eerie ballad for October, and a blood-boltered one for November! And our special guests in September are Tom and Margaret Spiers from Aberdeenshire: Tom has sung and fiddled - sometimes simultaneously - since the 1960s, drawing on the great song repertoire from NE Scotland; and Margaret has listened and learned from the wonderful source singers from that airt, like Lizzie Higgins and Daisy Chapman. This will be a special event, and - as ever - booking is required if you don't want to be disappointed. |

And for anyone thinking of coming along but not quite sure what to expect, there is no compulsion to "perform" and the atmosphere is very supportive -- as well as being a bit of a laugh at times, even if the humour is sometimes dark as you might suspect given the subject matter of some of these songs! |
