The Union of Concerned Scientists is excited to announce a webinar briefing on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation. The IPCC assembled 120 experts from around the world to compile this scientific assessment of the potential of renewable energy sources to mitigate climate change, and UCS is pleased to host a webinar briefing with two of the lead authors: William Moomaw, Ph.D., professor of international environmental law and director of the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University; and Ryan Wiser, Ph.D., staff scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. According to this report, renewable energy has the technical potential to exceed the current global energy demand by a considerable amount and the economic potential to be more competitive than nuclear power, fossil fuels with carbon capture and storage, and other low-carbon energy options. Please join us on Wednesday, September 7, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT, as Drs. Moomaw and Wiser discuss the findings of this comprehensive report and the continued need for renewable energy policies that will accelerate our transition to a clean economy. All completely separate issues. Quite dishonest to lump them together, but the IPCC has a terrible track record when it comes to telling the Truth. |

All completely separate issues." Completely separate? Really? So there is no pollution from energy production? Even nuclear? Even in Japan? Energy production does not generate carbon dioxide? Really? Energy demand has nothing to do with developing alternat energy sources? Wow, the whole concept of Earth Systems must be a conspiracy. The rock cycle, Wilson cycle, carbon cycle, water cycle, life cycle are all completely independant. Makes the world a lot easier to understand. Thanks. |
