The roses of Prince Charlie is in the DT.
Maybe you're in the wrong vicinity??
I guess younger people might not be familiar with the Corries.

Years late, but I do know the lyrics.
This links to a Youtube video with the lyrics:The Corries - ROSES OF PRINCE CHARLIE

ROSES OF PRINCE CHARLIE
(Ronnie Browne)

CHORUS: Come now gather now, here where the flowers grow
White is the blossom as the snow on the ben
Hear now, freedom's call, we'll make a solemn vow
Now by the roses o' Prince Charlie

VERSE 1: Fight again at Bannockburn yer battleaxe tae wield
Fight wi yer grandsires on Flodden's bloody field
Fight at Culloden, the Bonnie Prince tae shield
Fight by the roses o' Prince Charlie. CHORUS

VERSE 2: Spirits o' the banished, in far an' distant lands
Carved out the new world wi' sweat, blood an' hand
Return now in glory an' on the silver sand
Fight by the roses o' Prince Charlie. CHORUS

VERSE 3: Tak' yer strength fae the green fields that blanket peat and coal
Ships fae the Clyde have a nation in their hold
The water of life, some men need tae mak' them bold
Black gold and fishes fae the sea, man. CHORUS

In addition to my last post, this song can be considered 'old' in the time of my writing this, but then I am a teenager. This song speaks of what I believe is Scottish independence (last verse) and Scottish nationalism.

It was written by Ronnie Browne of The Corries and was around while Roy Williamson was still alive, so I suppose it is kind of old. I don't know the year exactly, but I see it as an old song.

There are a few covers on Youtube and one excellent version is by the folk group North Sea Gas, so yes it is still sung. This song is also a pipe tune now; I heard it by coincidence and was pretty pleased, albeit it doesn't sound exactly the same.

Now please bear in mind that this is from "Wikipedia" :

"Roses of Prince Charlie" is a modern Scottish folk song composed by Ronnie Browne of The Corries. It was written circa 1973 and first appeared in their album released in 1974, Live From Scotland Volume 1. The title of the song refers to the symbol of Charles Edward Stuart, which was a white rose. The words represent Jacobitism and modern Scottish Nationalism."

ROSES OF PRINCE CHARLIE
(Ronnie Browne)

Come now, gather now, here where the flowers grow,

Hear now, freedom's call, we'll make a solemn vow,
Now by the Roses of Prince Charlie.

Fight again at Bannockburn yer battle axe tae wield,
Fight wi' yer grandsires at Flodden's bloody field,
Fight at Culloden, the Bonnie Prince tae shield,
Fight, by the Roses of Prince Charlie.

Spirits of the banished in far and distant lands
Carved out the new world wi' sweat, blood and hand
Return now in glory and on the silver sand
Fight, by the Roses of Prince Charlie.

Tak' yer strength fae the green fields that blanket peat and coal
Ships fae the Clyde have a nation in their hold
The water of life, some men need tae mak' them bold
Black gold And fishes fae the sea, man.
