Saw Spiers & Boden for the first time and loved it. Didn't hear much of Margaret Walters but enjoyed many social moments with her & look forward to many more! Finally realised that I really do love Strawhead. Our Kipling: Bellamy Show was hot, humid, steaming, dripping, two hours long and a joy to be part of. Poems and Pints and Potboilers. What can I say? Ron's Orang-utan story is the best thing I've heard in years. Anything else? Loads. But how was it for you??? |

Folks came and went, others went and came, curious as to why we were sitting there. No film appeared but it was dry and comfortable so WTH. Enjoyed the Hut People, thought I would though I'd not caught up with them before. |

They're not just book-learnt - all of 'em have a real feel for this music and their respective hours in the sun can't be far away. Also Steve and Kristi Nebel warmed this old heart of mine and it was nice to see Anna Esslemont back in fine form with Uiscedwr. The last time I'd caught up with her was just before that auto-immune disease was diagnosed which seriously threatened things for a while but here she was, clearly having the time of her life. My Sweet Patootie = so professional in the best sense - exuberant and entertaining. I'm missing Fylde already - wind 'n rain n' all!!!! - oh, and the Gasworkers Club since you ask! Is there anywhere else quite like it? |

Particularly impressed by the young bands such as Mabon, Calan, Outside Track and Breabach. Add to that a free swim every day and hot showers as part of the camping package, we'll definitely be back next year. |

Like Clive I was MCing so I mainly saw artists appearing in my events - but Strawhead, Wilsons, Pilgrims Way and the Jaywalkers were all brilliant. Others equally worthy of a mention were the Mrs Ackroyd Band, Troubadour, and Peter and Barbara Snape. But The Hut People (Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond) made my weekend super fantastic - they are just something very special. I'm really looking forward to having them as my guests on Sounds of Folk in November. So another great year - and a huge testiment to Alan Bell's 39th year of directing the Festival. Ali x |
