Yes, it has some merit but at the same time I think that to purposely write a tune which always goes where it's least expected is probably a big mistake. On its own it's not a good basis for composition, but I agree that a good tune should ideally sound as though it couldn't have been written any other way. Any fool can write complicated unpredictable tunes - simplicity is a whole bit trickier. |

A good player can often make a good tune from a mediocre one, and a bad enough player can certainly ruin a good tune to the point of effective disguise. |
