14 Sep 11 - 01:02 AM (#3222909) Subject: Taylor's 1882 Collection From: Richie Hi, I've started putting this book of African-American spirituals, hymns and plantation melodies on my site: A Collection of Revival Hymns and Plantation Melodies- 1882 By Josephine Robinson, Marshall William Taylor http://bluegrassmessengers.com/collection-of-revival-hymns--plantation-melodies.aspx I've got all the lyrics from the 1882 edition, 157 songs but don't have the 1883 edition. The collection has been digitized by google but the music and lyrics can't be copied (as far as I know from the google book online viewing). I'm also adding fist lines and notes and other comments. Additional comments about Taylor and this book would be helpful. I have another article about it, which I may post later. It's one of about 20 books and over 100 articles I've put on my site the last couple months. Richie |
