17 Oct 11 - 09:57 AM (#3240206) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: Midchuck We would love to get a decent number of bodies for this. We are now a quartet. Mike Lussen has joined us since his retirement from Woods Tea Co. (His doc said, "you shouldn't work full time and tour nationwide any longer, but you should keep doing music.") We've been telling him that the folkies in the Portland area are an enthusiastic group and fun to perform for, or with, and he's looking forward to it. We won't worry if we don't make much more than gas money from this trip. We just want to do some music for people who really listen (except when they're singing louder than we are). Peter |
17 Oct 11 - 10:06 AM (#3240212) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: Bat Goddess Damn! Another event I'll have to miss (and, because Tom can't drive, HE'LL have to miss, too). My schedule is so screwed up these days it's ridiculous. I'm working both Saturday AND Sunday this week. Mostly since I came back to what may or may not be "full time" at the old job, my schedule is different every week -- which is more than a little annoying. And it seems I was purposely scheduled to work yesterday so I couldn't get some of the continuing education credits I need to rack up before March so I can renew my state registration. This company is doing me no favors whatsoever...although, I admit, it's (marginally) better than unemployment. I'm off today. Hope to get some more resumes out -- some to actual available jobs. Forgive my rant, but it's good to have someplace where I can air my frustration. Linn |

But we will be 4000 miles away by start of concert but maybe 3000 by the end, if the planes are on time. Hi to the Cadys and the rest of the band. Kendall, did you get "it shall be done" from Harry ATurtledove novels or from some other surce? Just wondering |
21 Oct 11 - 09:42 AM (#3242448) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: Midchuck Packing up the van for the Road Trip. We'll be off whenever Mike and Lisa get here. I'm a little worried about getting Mike and Kendall in one room, especially if there's Jameson's in the same room - but we'll just have to deal with it. I think Mary still has space for any interested parties who find themselves free on Saturday night. We promise fun music, and to keep it clean unless expressly requested otherwise. Peter |

23 Oct 11 - 12:23 PM (#3243558) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: jacqui.c Just back from breakfast at Mary's. Yesterday evening was a blast - the enhanced Woodchucks' Revenge put on a sterling performance with a varied programme of music. Mike Lussen is an excellent addition to the line up and also has an evil sense of humour that fits perfectly with the rest of the crew. Kendall and I left relatively early on Friday but I believe the party then carried on for a while. Saturday morning we went to a yard sale at the Cumberland Fairgrounds, Kendall took Peter, Kris, Mike and Lisa out for a spin in the Packard to let Mike see the ocean and we had a pre-concert meal of lobster chez Morse for the whole group. I think that everyone had a good time, anyway..... |
23 Oct 11 - 02:23 PM (#3243600) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: kendall It really was a fun evening. The "No shows" missed a very memorable performance. I don't often have that much fun! I was raised Baptist. |
23 Oct 11 - 04:46 PM (#3243645) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: SINSULL I am tired. The Woodchuck's performance was a brilliant mix of folk, blues, traditional and modern. Abilene had everyone joining in the chorus. Lots of requests. The Last Minstrel Show was another gem. Actually, the entire performance was spot on. Some day I will be the first to give up and go to bed. Took a nap and awoke to a herd (not a flock) of wild turkeys in my backyard. Poor Alice is beside herself. Too bad Fred is napping. He could have had some fun. Thank you all for a great weekend. Once again thank you Jacqui for dealing with breakfast and providing a revoltingly grey birthday cake. SINS drooping. |
23 Oct 11 - 05:15 PM (#3243652) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: ranger1 Kendall, I would have preferred to have been there than to be at home with two huge, gaping holes in my gums. One of which may actually meet my sinus cavity. |
24 Oct 11 - 05:38 PM (#3244140) Subject: RE: The Woodchucks in Concert 10/22 Maine From: Midchuck We had a good trip home on Sunday. Had I not pretty much spent the morning drinking coffee, at least when I wasn't eating bacon and eggs or hauling instrument cases out to the van, I wouldn't have had to stop so often - but at least there was little risk of my falling asleep at the wheel, as there might otherwise have been after having been up that late. We had a wonderful time. The attendance at our concert fell slightly short, shall we say, of that at Gordon Bok's, the last time I was there; but those in attendance were wonderfully enthusiastic, and entertained us at the post concert singaround (lie-around in some cases) just about as well as we had entertained them. I was particularly glad that Mike and Lisa felt so welcome. I'd figured they would. But I didn't figure Sinsull and Mike would stay up and solve the essential unsolved issues of metaphysics (with the aid of certain lubrication) after everyone else had gone home or to bed. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. And we're looking forward to the threatened repeat-with-lobster-boil sometime in Spring. Peter (on behalf of divers Woodchucks and associates). |
