MIDI hosting sites

I've started a blog for tunes playable on the ocarina:

http://octunes.blogspot.com

Problem is, Blogspot doesn't give me any easy way to embed MIDI files. It doesn't host them, and all I can do is link to them somewhere else.

But where? I'd rather not have them on my own site. The site I've tried for now - toofiles - gives me a download link rather than an HTTP link that would let a reader play the MIDI directly in another tab or window.

Who hosts MIDI files that I can access by HTTP with no download interface?

Or is there an alternative to Blogspot with built-in MIDI hosting?

Hi, Jack -

I will have space available for that sort of stuff in a couple of weeks - after October 10.

Perhaps you are complicating things by looking for a MIDI host? Just about any "plain" web hosting should do you.

way to embed MIDI files

If you are thinking of that, I'd suggest having a link as well. I don't think any of my current (Linux) browsers are working properly with HTML embed tags.

The only reliable way I have for me is to use a Java applet (due to a request and someone having problems playing MIDI links, I've added and am still completing writing a player for the folkinfo abc converter btw) but that depends on a user having Java and unless you can afford to pay for a proper certificate you either have an unsigned applet (one restriction is Java won't allow them to download from other sites) or you write your own certificate and probably scare your visitors away because some pop up comes up warning them your site is untrusted and may be unsafe. Can't win...

(It's bouncing my name in the From field for some reason)

I could put the MIDIs on my own site, but I'm experimenting to see what I can make work with entirely free solutions. Since MIDI files are typically smaller than images (which Blogspot is happy to host) it would make sense that some blog hosting platform, somewhere, would let its users upload them.

Embedding isn't really necessary, but non-embedded media links are a bit of a pain if your browser doesn't support tabs.
