Brian Peters in Maine 18/19 October

Master balladeer Brian Peters will be appearing at two venues in Maine next week

Firstly he will be the guest performer at Seanachie Nights, held at Bull Feeney's Irish Pub/Restaurant on 375 Fore Street in Portland, on Tuesday October 18th from 7 - 9 pm. There is a suggested donation of $12.

On Wednesday October 19th he will be doing a house concert in York, Maine, at the home of Sue and Charlie West. For reservations and directions the email address is overbywe@maine.rr.com

If you know Brian's work these are two good opportunities to catch up with him. If you don't, but do enjoy the Child Ballads, he is one of the best performers of the genre that I know.

Thanks Jacqui for starting this thread.

Just to clarify, the Portland gig is a performance of 'Songs of Trial & Triumph', consisting entirely of Child Ballads. Seanachie Nights is a storytelling and music series, and you can find the description for my show if you go here and scroll down.

The house concert with Sue and Charlie in York will be a performance from right across my repertoire (squeezebox tunes, chorus songs, whatever), although Sue will kill me if I don't do at least some meaty ballads!

The Portland, Maine 'Songs of Trial & Triumph' was a wonderful evening of ballads and commentary, vocals and instrumental beauty.

Thank you, Brian, and thanks to Seanachie Nights for bringing Brian to Maine. Have fun in York!

Brian was brilliant, as usual. Good ballads and lots of new info about them, done in a very entertaining style. The evening definitely ended too soon for me.

I was hoping to head to York tonight but today was a Boston check up for Kendall and, by the time we got back home, I didn't want to do any more travelling!

The evening with Brian at Bull Feeney's was way to short. His knowledge of the material and obvious love of it makes every ballad magical. I thouroughly enjoyed every minute. Good to see Maeve and Ranger 1. It's been a while.

Thanks all for those kind words.

Richard, you are welcome to 'Sir Aldingar'. Just make it loud and nasty, that's all.
