them cara lads

Cara can be seen on youtube. If you go to youtube and type Cara@ then lots of high quality films appear. It was at Moira Furnace festival in the summer. Someone with more technological acumen may be able to do this better, but it@s the best I can do.

Mike all you needed to do was type Cara Moira Furnace Festival into the search engine.

Anyway to save people having to do that, here is a link.

I really enjoy these folks and their approach to Irish music - have since the first time their work showed up on Mudcat. It's a little confusing, because there is another Irish band named Cara (perfectly good band, but not the same folks). Their approach and style reminds me of the folks I sometimes play with in Maine and the Maritimes.

Being in the US, I'm not sure the CDs are readily available, and the other Cara makes things doubly confusing. Does Camsco have them? Is there a US source?

I love to see them live. Especially when Oakley has his long johns on (the women go beserk). The giant Humber Whelks they bring along are so delicious.

Glad you are still going strong.Superb music so tastefully performed. Hope that one day you will play the Orkney Folk festival. Always enjoyed Oakley playing with the FV's.

CARA is one of my favs. If you go to their site you will (I haven't checked in a while so...?) see my review from years ago. Top notch A number one stuff!

When I first heard one particular song, "Exile's Son", it resonated to my core. It said something to my "Irish" that I had felt deeply many times being told that I, a Canuck, was not "Irish".

These guys are good. I treasure their music... Oaks is a bit nutty with his humour but I must say he always made me laugh. The kinda guy I would like to hang out with. Not too shabby on the fiddle neether eh... check out The Second of May.

Hi.

Dan, sorry if we appear to have ignored you - messages go to the webco who sends them back to me and I don't ignore any.   Please see my pm.

We've swapped CDs with German Cara who I really like. We took the name in 2000 from the word "friend" in Irish.

Gnu - the artist with the knack of doing things (the very same one who despite never been trained to read or play music figured-out the Courante from Bach's D min Partita for violin) has now started to do some kind of lino printing in her shed. She is a star. http://www.janebeharrell.com/
is her interwhatsit so have a look at her monotypes and stuff.

Huge thanks for the encouragement and the supportive comments - we really appreciate it.
