27 Oct 11 - 05:16 AM (#3245416) Subject: RE: Will Fly - puttin on the ritz From: Will Fly Well - how good of you all to say such nice things! Thank you very much - it's really appreciated. The tenor guitar - or, at least, the one I have, (which was made for me by Ian Chisholm) is a very expressive instrument for melody lines. It lends itself to vibrato and can "sing" if played properly. I like playing a mixture of things on it - ranging from folk tunes such as jigs and hornpipes, to 1930s jazz and to some of the stuff written by Charles Trenet. So, perhaps a little Trenet for this morning. Have your berets, coffee, Gaulloises - and perhaps a spot of cognac - at the ready... Boum :-) |

27 Oct 11 - 07:05 AM (#3245456) Subject: RE: Will Fly - puttin on the ritz From: Trevor Thomas I've had the good fortune to sit across a table from the estimable Mr Fly when he was playing that very tenor guitar. It sounds wonderful. Of course, the important thing isn't the instrument, it's who's on the end of it. Will is simply a great player, who could make a biscuit tin sound good if he liked. |
