As with Jimmy Saville I was very young when the Shadows were first around many a cinema trip was heightened by Apache or Wonderful Land played in the intervals but in my teens my intersts drifted to the Beatles and then Rock and Ska so a million miles away from the Shadows. But now I realise how much that music meant to me growing up and has become my guilty pleasure. |

A workmate got tickets withiut havuibng to queue up so I thought "Why not". The rest of the bill was rather 'square' but, as I mentioned above, there was no lack of ability. Shortly afterwards I found "Do You Want To Dance" by Bobby Freeman on a 78 rpm. So Cliff and The Shads, thanks for that. Their early 45s such as "Please Don't Tease" were great IMO. |
