28 Oct 11 - 11:23 PM (#3246473) Subject: Sounds of Folk's 10th birthday From: Alio Bernard and I celebrate 10 years of Sounds of Folk in May - although we don't work for the BBC anymore, we found a lovely, friendly station in Oldham Community Radio, which also covers the whole of Greater Manchester. We do want to celebrate the anniversary of course, and at first we thought of a 2 hour special, inviting several guests who've been interviewed over the years. However, the station manager has come up with the sugggestion that we present a concert for the birthday, which would then be rcorded so that it could be played at other times, and kept for posterity, possibly in a CD format. So we're looking at Saturday May 18th (or 19th, I'm not sure!!) in a pub function room in Failsworth, close to the studio. We'd ideally like to see many artists who've been over the years, but also an audience of course! The entrance charge would hopefully be nominal (providing artists don't charge too much, if anything!!) and we could then share any profits between the radio statin and a local charity. So guests and artists, please do let myself or Bernard know if you'd be interested in coming along - either to watch or perform. Hopefully it'll be an amazing night! Ali x |

I think it's going to be the Sunday now - easier to get a function room, and easier for lots of the artists. Quite a few have said that they'll come along - Stanley Accrington, The Hut People, Strawhead, and possibly Clive Gregson - and I've not even started properly yet! The Hut People were my studio guests last night - they were just wonderful! I'll mention the cake to Bernard - I'm sure he could rustle something up!! it would probably be in the shape of a guitar or a microphone! Ali x |
