You can hear it at this YouTube site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijV4Z1YBsaM I am not talented at figuring out timing. I've got all the notes, and I can even play the song on my dulcimer. But: what time is it in? does it change time for the refrain? what are the pick-up notes? I've been trying different things, but nothing seems to come out right. Can anybody listen and tell me? (Already tried and failed to find a MIDI on the Net.) |

I can't use that in Noteworthy Composer, which is my brand of music software. (It's not unusual to find the a so-called MIDI is actually HTML.) What's the difference? I can do many things with a true MIDI. Change the key, write harmony, add a bass clef, add chords, print. As for the time, I'll try making the first two notes pick-up notes and see what happens. I've tried the download again, and for some reason it doesn't work. I left-clicked, and it took a long, long time. Then the doc wasn't in My Documents and couldn't be found when I did a search. I think I'll just make it 4/4, as you say. |

I clicked the MIDI link (above) and at the top of that web page was this: DOWNLOAD: Lemarque Francis - Le Petit Cordonnier.mid I clicked on the arrow below that, and the MIDI downloaded just fine. |

A benefactor who shall remain unnamed sent me a copy from a fake book. It is in 4/4 and the two first notes are quarter-note pickups. The long notes: tapped a-waaay, all the daaaay, etc are 5 beats, crossing the bar. Now I can sleep peacefully. |

I didn't need to do the trackpad equivalent of "right clicking." I just pointed and clicked. Yes, while the song is in 4/4, there's a good bit of syncopation, which might lend some confusion. |
