I told the story many a time in the past of the lady who was cleaning the room in the hospital where my son was so ill, when he was 3 years old, 14 years back now...We got talking about many things....And she said "You know, my dear, in the last War, we knew who the Enemy was, we could see them, they wore uniforms, spoke differently to us. But now, they are all around us, invisible, but just as dangerous..." |

Master Race delusions of cultural superiority. Terrorism by imperial design for imperial profit. And one soldier has stood up, taken off his Swastika armband (metaphorically speaking), and named the real enemy: his own government and the wealthy elite who run it. Well done. |

That's why our equivalent is called Remembrance Day. |

11 Nov 11 - 01:07 PM (#3255077) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Sad as it is, he touched on some very real issues. We have been so corrupted, that often we don't realize that our very common sense has been corrupted, as well!...and yet, as seen even on here(the forum), there are those who root on, and support the very people, who have been lying a blue streak, to us...and even making excuses for them. Both parties, same deluded agendas, different lies, to suit the other lies you've already been convinced of! The 'left' does the emotional bleeding heart rap..the 'right' hides behind so-called 'patriotism'..to cater to their captivated, indoctrinated audiences.....but the beat just keeps going on...and on...and on.....while we sit it comfort, and relative peace, 'DISCUSSING' the topics of the day....acting like we are not affected, other than expressing our own subscription to the craziness, we've swallowed, and then believing, as 'truth'! Until it comes here...and it will...you can keep it locked up in your brain........and still convince yourselves that you don't have mental issues...and everything is fine..and you will only be entertained by it, as a spectator..... ...WRONG! 11 Nov 11 - 01:54 PM (#3255102) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: Little Hawk In every aggressive military power there is confusion in its citizens between 2 apparently opposing interests. One is the natural instinct of patriotism, the love of one's country, the need to support one's own troops. That's in everyone, and it's perfectly understandable. The other is the natural instinct toward fairness, justice, and truth. Everyone wants fairness, justice, and truth. When a nation launches unjust wars of aggression, based on lies, its citizens will either fall back on standard reactions of patriotism, believe the lies, and support the war unquestioningly because they think it would be traitorous not to.... Or they will wake up, realize they have been lied to, realize their government is leading them down a destructive path, and support the troops by demanding an end to the war and bringing those troops home to those who love them. To do the latter is not traitorous in the case of an unjust war. It is patriotism of the highest order. It may require civil disobedience to a corrupt government, but it is still patriotism of the highest order, though demagogues and fools may call it the act of a traitor. |

11 Nov 11 - 02:52 PM (#3255143) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: Jack the Sailor Bobad, Respectfully, This man being a veteran does not make this an appropriate message for Remembrance Day. There are plenty of veterans, even some on this forum who would beg to differ. I beg to differ because he proposes swapping one enemy for another. I am no liberal or bleeding heart. But I know that war is not the answer. >> "Our real enemy is not the ones living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it's profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us." - Mike Prysner<< The enemy is not the system. The system is us. It is what we allow to be done in our name. The banks and the insurance companies are made up of people. Political power is composed of our votes. We will get no where blaming others. We must take responsibility and get involved. We have met the enemy and he is us. |

I posted a post a while back, that points out, to be deceived is not in itself 'evil'...because the reason one is deceived, is because, given the choices, people tend to do the 'right thing', with whatever information they have to deal with. The problem, and what IS evil, are those who knowingly DECEIVE others, to accomplish their(the deceiver's) goals. The reason people are deceived, is because the WANT to believe the 'right thing', and DO the 'right thing'..but to get them do bend their wills, the deceiver has to bend the truth. This is not only common in today's politics, it is the practice! It is the norm! Shame on those who are deceived so easily, and look no further, than to what 'appeals' to their sense of 'right'...usually formulated by other lies that they have believed! Politics: The art of lying to masses of people! GfS |

11 Nov 11 - 05:31 PM (#3255241) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: Little Hawk GfS, you have it right. Politics is the art of salesmanship, on a national and international basis. Those who believe the spiel will willingly buy the product. Obama's speech is typically well-spoken, calm, reasonable-sounding, articulate, and he says the required things he would be expected to say. I'd not have expected him to do anything other than that, but his government is not engaged in legitimate defensive wars, it's engaged in aggressive wars of its own choice, and their purpose is to control strategic regions and resources and to establish client (meaning subservient) governments in those regions. Like the Soviets before them, I think the USA will not succeed in attaining any of their longterm objectives, and like the Soviets before them, they are bankrupting themselves in the process. This is not in the interests of the American people nor of American servicemen. |

11 Nov 11 - 08:18 PM (#3255315) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: gnu BIG oops... I was saying ditto to Beer`s post and didn`t see the one after his and before mine. While I can understand the negative reactions on this day of reverence, I sincerely agree with the the sentiments of the young man in that video. That in NO way detracts from my respect for the sacrifices of those who have servred, who have died, and met worse fates than dying in battle. Lest we forget. Always in my heart. Always. Perhaps with this young man`s courage in speaking out we can NOT just remember on each Remebrance Day but change things so that those that gave their lives and more did not do so vain. He speaks the truth from his heart and he does more service to the veterans than any ceremony no matter what day it is. I was at the Cenotaph in the rain and wind today. I wish THAT young man had been there beside me. But, of course, I know, there were many of him there. Vets, young, old... there were many of him. |

12 Nov 11 - 05:04 AM (#3255422) Subject: RE: BS: Amazing Speech By War Veteran From: GUEST,999 That young man walked the walk and he's right to talk the talk, imo. There have been vets from every war who have spoken out about the 'wrongness' of the whole war or aspects of it. No surprise. What has changed is the public availability of what they said and why they said it. Media used to express ideas and report news; now, it expresses corporate ideas and corporate-approved news. The one part of media that doesn't speak only for corporate interests today is the internet. Mike Prysner has been arrested for anti-war protest. He has been maligned by politically right-leaning blogs and right-leaning people, some of whom are no doubt paid to 'bring him down'. But the problem with ideas is that once they're out there, they're kinda hard to put back in the bottle or the box. IMO |
