I was talking about this last night at our Wednesday session, and Dave made a very cogent point. When it's used to accompany songs, particularly Scots songs when the wording is fairly precise, and the notes are important, especially in reel or Strathspey mode. The lapsteel/dobro is out of place, as it's never on a constant pitch, always wavering around like a bad case of the vibratos. |
