Proper colour coordination is absolutely vital! On giving it careful thought, I would pick...

Avocado...

Apricot...

...and Grecian Beige

Blue, cos denham jeans are blue, eh?

Red, cos it is not black or blue.

And...uh....black and blue?

Car colours confuse me.

Desert silver looks brown to me and midnight blue looks black.

Doesn't the persons who think up these colours talk with the people who attach a trendy sounding name to them?

2. Green

439nmm 549nm,570nm or thereabouts. But frequencies inbetween or beyond are useful. Interesting how close "red" and "green" are.

Why does it say "Method not implemented" in big letters up there?

It is bemusing to note how some colo(u)rs leap up and smack one at times. For instance, a few months ago I watched Late Night with David Letterman- he was wearing a tie of a particular shade of yellow that perfectly complemented his complexion and hair. I thought about writing and telling him so. I have seen him several times since and none of the ties do a thing for him.

As for my favo(u)rite colo(u)r - oh, dang. Forget it - I have to say that it's GREEN simply because I like more shades of green than any other color. To me, green is the color of life, of growing things, of change and hope.

Blue, Green & Brown:
For sky, grass & trees. Anyone who parrots "Blue & Green should never be seen (without a colour in-between)" has never really looked at the handiwork of God!

Red, White & Green:
For a national flag. (Yes, I know White isn't a "colour", but it, and black, have been suggested above)

Most of the houses I've lived in were decorated (by me) in the colour buttermilk. I also like (for walls) a colour rather like old ladies' stockings, a pinky beige. And duck egg blue is my third choice. These colours seem to soothe and cheer at the same time. I haven't a single red thing in the house, neither clothes nor decor. Hate red, it seems aggressive and strident. Like Patsy, I wear darkish colours (I fondly imagine they're slimming!).
Little Hawk, what are your three choices, please?

Homer didn't 'say' either, because he didn't write in English; so it depends which translation you refer to, doesn't it?

I have thought for some time that Homer was probably referring to the sea seen at a particular time of day. I had for a while a calendar picture of the sun setting over the sea somewhere, and it looked like deep red wine. With sparkly bits.

The kitchen in my new house has walls of a deep pink, leaning towards magents, possibly crimson wixed with white. And sparkly bits. Also walls of silver paper. Mt sister's boyfriend said, on seeing it, "Please tell me you don't like this." It is from Benetton. It is going to be a primrose yellow. I have a pottery tile, a gift from a school child, which will be my colour guide. Yellow and green. I'm debating whether to keep my chairs the pillar box red they currently are, or go for British Racing Green to match the kettle, toaster and china. On the floor at the dining end I have rugs my Dad made, wh9ch have yellow, green, pink and the red of Spartan cloaks, which go alright with the walls as they are, but not the chairs.

Lots of my clothes have green, purple, or orange about them.

Penny

Patsy, if I try on anything red in a shop, my face looks pale green for some reason (I am very pale anyway) Red walls are just awful, they give me a headache! By the way, do you, like me, hate to see little girls in endless pink, pink and more pink? Ghastly lurid vivid pink, dresses, shoes, schoolbags, beds, everything pink. WHY??

Makes it look bigger and bright. Easy washing. It aids people with vision problems. It allows any decore to function aesthetically.

Eliza - Yes, I have a similar negative reaction to the little girls all in pink thing. I can't see the point of it. Also, there was this girl in 3rd grade who had a pink dress and she threw up all over the place in class, and I've felt a bit queasy about pink dresses ever since.

My mother insisted on trying to deck me out in pink, pink dresses pink bows, I couldn't stand it. Later she still urges me to go for pink including wallpapered bedrooms why? Perhaps parents want to try to hang on to their 'little princesses' for as long as they can.

It's odd isn't it Patsy? Even as a child I never liked either pink or red. Luckily, my mother didn't either, and I had some pretty little floral dresses in pastel yellows, blues and greens. I wonder if the answer is that we all see colours differently. Maybe 'pink' to you and me is a rather unattractive shade, the way our eyes perceive it!

There are certain people who look fairly good in pink...but I can't help thinking they'd look even better in green, blue, gold, yellow, white, red, tan, brown, violet, purple, black...well, almost anything, actually. ;-D

For a true feast of colour, watch some Indian movies from Bollywood. Boy do those people ever appreciate vibrant colours in clothing and scenery!

I've got quite a few of those Bollywood DVDs Little Hawk. My favourite is Umrao Jaan. They are indeed a feast for the eyes. I also have a few Indian saris, simply because I love the vivid colours. They put strange combinations together which in fact work well. But I they don't look good on very pale skin like mine. My black husband has some gorgeous cotton costumes in zizzy colours, and he can wear them, being totally black! But even he dislikes red.
