Folk Radio UK are giving away a free download of a remix of Gently Johnny by the Woodbine & Ivy Band. This is only available at Folk Radio UK. This is the link: Woodbine & Ivy Band

Alex from Folk Radio UK gave the album a five star review, saying "this is the finest album I have heard in years and I cannot applaud the efforts of all involved enough… emancipating and mindblowing!"

FRUK is definitely a station worth listening to - they play lots of interesting stuff...

You can also download the single, Spencer the Rover, from itunes, Amazon etc.. I've got the single and the full CD and have played both on Sounds of Folk.

This is a very interesting piece of work, familiar songs sung in a most unfamiliar fashion. It makes these songs fresh and new again, and allows me to see things I'd never noticed in these songs before. Here's the track listing for The Woodbine & Ivy Band:
  1. Spencer the Rover (sung by Fay Hield)
  2. Alison Gross (sung by Rapunzel & Sedayne)
  3. Twa Corbies (sung by Pinkie Maclure)
  4. Gently Johnny (sung by Jenny McCormick)
  5. Poor Murdered Woman (sung by Olivia Chaney)
  6. Under the Leaves (sung by Elle Osborne)
  7. Out With My Gun in the Morning (sung by Jim Causley)
  8. Derry Gaol (sung by Jackie Oates)
  9. The Green Wedding (sung by Nancy Wallace)
  10. The Roaming Journeyman (sung by James Raynard)
