I have been advised that a recent UK prog ~Heir Hunters, had a clip of the above song!

Delph was in Yorkshire I believe, near Saddleworth and Greenfield (now in Greater Manchester being near Oldham!) or some other made up Lankky area!!

Does anyone have a recording lyrics/provenance of this song please?

It`s by A Wrigley famous local poet it is in our stage Saddleworth Yorkshire accent Ray so you may not fully understand it.I do have it somewhere but not to hand.May find it later

Should have been strange accent.Further Saddleworth museum were selling a cd of local poets and George Ardley[farmer george]sadly no longer with us sang it on there.

I've found that Ammon Wrigley wrote a poem called THE DELPH SHOW. Its first line is "Fro' th' Isle o' th' Skye to th' Laddy Rocks," and it appears on pages 232-233 of a book called "Songs of a Moorland Parish with Prose Sketches: A Collection of Verse and Prose, Chiefly Relating to the Parish of Saddleworth" (1912, reprinted 1980).

    Ammon Wrigley (1861 - 1946) was a remarkable man. He came from Saddleworth, which is technically in Yorkshire, but his language was that of Lancashire. He himself said 'its people speak, and have ever spoken, the Lancashire dialect' and 'Saddleworth is a Yorkshire parish, with a Lancashire population' (Old Lancashire Words and Folk Sayings, 1940).

Yes it is this geographical fact that caused the revival of the War of The Roses at Saddleworth folk festival!

As I have said before I had a great aunt who married the village bobby in Denshaw and they have family still local I believe!
