They are field collectors & academic researchers & have led ballad sessions at Whitby, Sidmouth, Holmfirth and Warwick Festivals. They have a special expertise in old variants of Child ballads & also in reworking them to suit our days while retaining their human truth & power.

Suppose we've got a really different version of one already listed? Does that add to, or detract from the interest?

Ok then, howz about;
Captain Bart, Giles Howlett, Judas, and Ravenser Odd?
Apart from Judas (Child 23) I guess these should provoke some discussion.

I have the good fortune to live in Sheffield, and the additional good fortune to be able to attend the Ballads session Paul & Liz run there,
and I can tell you -- you are in for a treat!

They are steeped in the tradition and have a wealth of absolutely fascinating bits of knowledge (language, customs, beliefs, historical background, etc.) to share
that has helped me understand/make sense of numerous ballads and really brought them to life for me... enjoy!
