29 Nov 11 - 01:37 PM (#3265559) Subject: Bobert's Blues Trip From: GUEST,999 Our buddy/friend/puzzled guy is off to Memphis to represent Charlotte in the blues competition. Word on the street is he could use a few bucks to help him along that road. Seems with the move and his appliances all dropping out at the same time he's got himself a bit broke. If I'd known that pulling teeth was so difficult I'd have never dissed my dentist. Anyway, Bobert finally said, "Yeah, I could use a bit, that's for sure." ######################################### When I first asked Rapparee if he'd be the banker--a role he's filled before--he asked if it was for Bobert's bail. I figure it could be if we don't help get him off the streets. It would certainly contribute to the literature of 'the blues' were a guy in the competition to be in the slam for vagrancy while the judging is taking place. But that'd just add to the nerves he's gonna feel before he does his first number, anyway. True, it's not life or death, but if you have a few bucks you want to put to good use, well, there's this blues singer who could use your assistance. If you decide to send a cheque or postal money order please make it out to Mike Doellman PO Box 4905 Pocatello, ID 83205 USA He'll keep the banking going until about mid January and then Mike will arrange with Bobert to get him the cash. NB Please put a B on the back of the envelope because that'll make keeping track easier for Mike. PS Mike does NOT have Paypal. Gotta be cheque or postal money order. |
29 Nov 11 - 01:55 PM (#3265563) Subject: RE: Bobert's Blues Trip From: Rapparee Note that Mike is doing this WITHOUT taking his usual 90% cut; in fact, he's doing it without any cut at all because otherwise 999 and Bobert made some reference to "holding up a bridge" and "concrete overcoat." Send cash and launder that loot you've got stashed from unlicensed gigs, drug deals, gun running and so on. Or just let me know at which little airport I can pick up the suitcase full of money. 100% goes to |

Ol' Bobert and the Charlotte Blues Society had a "failure to communicate" somewhere along the way and to make a long story short, ahhhh, some paperwork didn't get where it needed to get and... ...I ain't goin'!!! Yeah, it's a bummer but, hey, bluesmen live for bummers, right??? Life goes on... Thanks, however, for everyone's hard work in trying to help the hillbilly but some things ain't to be and I guess this is one of them... I guess I shouldn't have entered the challenge to begin with... All I wanted to do is meet some folks and now all I've done is piss offf the folks I wanted to meet... Woke up this morning... B~ |

30 Nov 11 - 08:20 AM (#3265972) Subject: RE: Bobert's Blues Trip From: Bobert Well, sometimes a good night's sleep is all one needs... And that's exactly what I got... Heck, I got so many projects going that it's almost a relief to not have to have this one on my plate... It was not only going to be expensive but it was going to be a lot of hard work... In order to be competitive you have to have 4 really strong 30 minute sets with each one being different... I had rounded up the sets on paper but each was going to require hours of work to have polished... This made me realize that my comfort zone is doing 45-50 minute sets like I've been doing for years... I can do them without having to, ahhhhh, work... lol... Thanx all for your support but thei ol' hillbilly is feeling good about things... B;~) |
