Folklore: Funding Folklore

The museum would very much like to hear your views on a topic that has come about since we opened a pop-up shop to help raise funds for the work we are doing. As we all know the current economic climate is not a good one. As part of our two year exhibition programme we are endeavouring to raise funds for an exhibition we are mounting at the Museum of East Anglian Life next March which will highlight the importance of Doc Rowe's archive. As some of you may know, Doc has never received any substantial funding, despite the importance of his collection. We would like to use the exhibition as a platform to launch a series of applications to help digitise as much of Doc's material as possible, especially the older material that is in danger of decay. Do you think that by commissioning young artists to create artworks which respond to various British folktales and customs is in any way counter productive?

Perhaps I should explain that the User Name MoBF stands for Museum of British Folklore. I don't know much about the museum, but they have a great Website.
