london session, please

Daughter Kit now resident in London (south/central) is looking for a music session to attend with her piano accordion. Toons or mixed toons/songs is fine, but no singarounds, sessions only. No particular night. Weekly or monthly. Happy, friendly and welcoming atmosphere desirable. Who can recommend one?
Thanks
Lawrie

I had a good time visiting the Greenwich session two weeks running last month (Lord Hood pub, near Cutty Sark DLR station, every Tuesday, 9pm-11pm). Mainly English tunes: Scottish and Continental ok in small amounts. They have a tunebook collected from what they've played over the last 15 years or so, which is very well done (no accordion chords, though). http://www.greentrad.org.uk/ .

Check out the George - near London Bridge. It used to have tuney sessions once a month on a Monday.

Don't bother with TheSession - the listings are years out of date and almost all of the ones listed no longer take place. Listings never get removed, even if somebody points out to the admin that the venue has been demolished.

You sometimes get results there by posting in the discussions section, but that's explicitly forbidden and the query will often be removed before anybody answers.

Walthamstow Folk have a 2nd Tuesday of the month session, to quote the website at www.walthamstowfolk.co.uk

"The Walthamstow Folk Club Traditional Tune Session happens on the second Tuesday of each month.

The Session is held upstairs at The Nags Head, 9 Orford Road E17 9LP www.thenagsheade17.com

For the first half of the evening we are a "slow and steady" session suitable for beginners and people getting used to playing in sessions. We'll play the tunes as slowly and as many times as you like!

After the interval the more experienced players can have their heads out and pick the pace up!

The session is led by Alison Scott and Frankie Cleeve. The atmosphere is really friendly and supportive.

We kick off at 8:00pm. Everybody is welcome and admission is free.

The next session is on Tuesday 13th December 2011"

There is more information at the club website click on the session link.

The Byfleet session mentioned by Leadfingers is usually 4th Monday, but the December session is on the 19th (i.e. 3rd Monday) for obvious reasons.
