I filled you with Buckfast, How long would our love last..." and now i cant even remember the chorus!! If anyone can help me please post ASAP!! |

26 Jan 12 - 08:06 AM (#3296538) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Yvonne From: Charley Noble There's also a silkie parody, i. e., "You picked a fine time to leave me, you seal!" Here's my notes from 2004: To the tune of "Lucille" by H. Bynum and R. Bowling, parody lyrics by Elizabeth Scarborough ©2004 Adaptation by Muriel Doris 2004 You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me, You Seal Chorus: You picked a fine time to leave me, you seal The babe that I bore you just makes my head reel, He'll only eat kippers, has four lovely flippers, Likes to dive down to the well for his meal, You picked a fine time to leave me, you seal Oh, you are a silkie, or that's what you told me Though I'd sworn you were a man; A right comely boy, oh, you gave me much joy, oh, But I never did understand; I'd have cause to regret, once you got your feet wet For a silkie as I've come to know On hitting the water can swim like an otter And balance a ball on his nose. Though we parted friendly, I think you should send me Some child support, that is my wish; Since I moved to Ohio, it's so hard, don't you know, Just to keep that poor kid in fish; And if I should remarry it must be to some faery Of silkie descent, or at least To some understanding and most undemanding Boy in the employ of Greenpeace. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
26 Jan 12 - 12:26 PM (#3296669) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Yvonne From: JohnInKansas So far as I can recall, Charley has them right, but I also think I remember that the lyrics for "You Seal" were published in Sing Out!, probably some time near the © date (2004) cited. The lyric submittal may have been by the author of the lyric, or it may have been from an "as sung by" version. I'm quite sure I've got a note on it somewhere, if I could just remember where I was keeping my notes of that kind back then. ... John |
26 Jul 15 - 02:00 AM (#3726158) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Yvonne From: GUEST,CoriSCapnSkip Once I found a website with about 25 different parodies of the Lucille song including one about a "loose heel" on a bride's wedding shoes! I still can't find lyrics for the version I would like to hear--about a realistic fancy dress cow costume and stopping to bend down while taking a short cut across a field with a bull in it. It seems to have been done by the Barron Knights but they did a number of medleys of parodies of popular songs. Anyone know where this might be found? Thanks. |
29 Apr 21 - 10:53 AM (#4103964) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me Yvonne From: GUEST The Barron Knights Lucille lyrics go thus At the fancy dress dinner, Lucille was a winner. She took first prize with a bow I went as the farmer, But she was the charmer, Dressed as a cute jersey cow. As we walked home together, Through fields and the heather, We had a good time and were full but we had been drinking, And passed without thinking, The notice that read... beware of the Bull! You picked a fine time to bend down Lucille! Your fancy costume, it looked much too real! There was a cool hush, And then I saw that Bull rush To him you had animal appeal And that’s the last time that we saw Lucille |
