BS: Twin Air Bags.

I see there is a big flap on this morning regarding breast implants.

Medical authorities in France are expected to tell 30,000 women with a certain type of breast implant to have them removed. There is a fear, this will lead to a mass outbreak of divorce and affairs.

The fake Bristol Cities are filled with an unapproved gel and have been linked to the death of a French woman who died from a rare form of cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL).

Some 50,000 British women are believed to have the implants.

But the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said there is no evidence to support removal of the implants, manufactured by Poly Implant Prosthese (PIP).

"The MHRA has reviewed available evidence for association of cancers for women with breast implants in consultation with the relevant UK professional bodies for breast surgery and surgical oncology and has concluded that there is insufficient evidence to indicate any association with cancer.

"Additionally, the MHRA worked with the cancer registry and could find no evidence for any association.

This is something a lot of women won't want to get off their chest.

There's a similar flap with testicle implants which may strike you as equally humorous.

Any surgical procedure brings with it some degree of risk.
If these 'implants' have not been proven to cause problems. As such, it must be a balanced decision whether to risk surgery to remove them.

Personally (except for disfigurement) the idea of cosmetic surgery escapes me.

Damn, Rap, I thought you'd be able to do it with rapier, cutlass, sabre or (with rubber gloves) bare hands.

This is one area in which a double AA rating comes last.

It is sad that technology cannot be trusted in these matters... and sad that so many felt the need to take chances.

I really hope no more serious cases happen.

Nigel I don't understand the need either and I would worry about any partner in a relationship that would push me to do so.

I've heard the term "Bristols" before, but I never realized it was rhyming slang until I read this first post.

About which I am sure, White Man, that you are well informed. You are, however, as ill informed as your fellow-travellers about my own preferences.

Richard, that was my attempt at humour. If I in any way caused you offence in this or any other remark, I apologise to you without reservation.

Right... humour is acceptable to ME at any cost, but not to everyone. Fact of the matter is, *I* can laugh at anything or not laugh. Right now, I am not laughing. It's just all too sad. I do not deny anyone their right to make seemingly humourous comments because of my feelings... as if I have any right to do so in any case.

I am just so taken aback to learn that SO MANY women have done this. I can only understand such being done if a woman felt it was a way to make money... showing her tits. That is, if she NEEDED to do this because she NEEDED to make money in the porn industry, for whatever reasons.

I just find it very, very disturbing and sad.

Again, jokes are cool, but I ain't laughin this time.
