BS: New Years Honours List

OK, this is a bit of fun for those of you in the UK.

The honours lists have in the past given us such worthies as these:-

Sir Mark Thatcher
Sir Jeffrey Archer
Sir Fred Goodwin

So to keep up the tradition of honouring worthy people how about a list of knighthoods for worthy citizens for 2012 ; to start the ball rolling:-

Sir Jeremy Clarkson
Sir Peter Andre

Dame Katie Price
Dame Cheryl Cole

anyone like to continue?

I'd be surprised if Ronnie Corbett didn't get something.

That would make him the shortest knight of the year.

...I'll get me coat of arms

Gary John Owens of New Brunswick, Canada, who put up with a lotta shit this year and is still alive, fer now, and, who didn't have to endure the relentless attacks on his socio-economic position on the face of this earth near as much as most people in the world. I'd nominate the poor who provide the rich with their wealth.

Perhaps this thread is about rich people who do good for the poor? I sure as fuck hope so. On accounta the poor are havin a hard time.

Sorry if that isn't in the spirit of the thread. Maybe I just don't understand the thread. If that is the case, please ignore the ignorant Canuck in the corner of the room muttering to himself.

The Order of Canada is what you need Gnu. "A Molson's Canadian for me and a rum and Coke for my buddy." is my favorite order of Canada.

The thread has its tongue very firmly in its cheek so no offence will be taken at anything!

Well, USians COULD be on the list (really!), so how about the Kardashian sisters, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Newt Gingerich, Sarah Palin, or Rick Perry?

Then we could have them arrested for unconstitutionally using titles and patents of nobility....

Bainbo, I wrote a song way back in the sixties called The Royal Horses. One verse went:

Gordon Richards, rode a couple of winners
So the Queen asked him up to the palace for his dinner.
She fed him on champagne, caviar and beer,
And he was made the shortest night of the year.

Ronnie only got a CBE (to add to his OBE). Strangely I've been missed off yet again.

Looks like the usual bunch of civil servants, ex-cons and political party donors have done well again this year. Oh, and a sprinkling of show biz types and charity workers just so that Joe Public thinks it's all fair and above board. What an absolute farce - about time this anachronism was scrapped. Oh, and a Happy New Year to all Mudcatters!!

Temporarily diverting the spoof awards of this thread, and combining the OP post's remarks about some dubious characters being given awards in the past with the actual awards, the BBC website summary includes this: "But the i is amongst the papers concerned by the honours awarded to convicted fraudster Gerald Ronson and former gang member Chris Preddie."

Damn! My post from yesterday (it was about the third) disappeared.

I nominated Lord Simon Cowell, second Viscount of Craptelly. Actually he works for both sides of the pond.

Have you noticed that you can be the biggest, shit-iest crook in creation but as long as you ostentatiously do stuff for "charidy" you'll be forgiven all your crimes - and it's highly likely you'll also be given a 'gong'?
