Review: Dissertation on The Old Town School

Tanya Su-kyung Lee has written the best account on the Old Town School of Folk Music
that I have ever read. She really did her homework and it will give you an understanding
of how the first Folk Music School started in Chicago in 1957. It has grown to be the
largest non-profit music school in the country accommodating approximately. 6,000 students weekly.

Tanya says It is possible to purchase copies from UMI/Proquest (the clearinghouse/database for all dissertations nationwide)

The title is "Music As A Birthright: Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music and Participatory Music Making in the Twenty-First Century"

It's a fine read, I think.

My friend Marge Lev, who took guitar lessons from Frank Hamilton in the 1960s, sent me a link to a Scott Alarik film about the Old Town School of Folk Music:
I think you'll like it.
