It's already 2012 in some parts of the world. I like the idea that my greeting will follow the new year around the globe. I hope it brings good things for all mudcatters. Happy new year.

Just as an additional idea, I got a lovely gardening catalogue through the post yesterday. I do love those, as they make you think of Spring and warm, sunny days. Well, this catalogue had some brilliant ideas for red, white and blue displays of flowers for the Jubilee and Olympics. I'm planning several hanging baskets and tubs on a patriotic theme. I'll get them started in our greenhouse in March. I expect some people will think it's a bit 'naff', but I'm going to have a try! Happy New Year everyone!

Take it easy.

well, it's now 2.31am Sunday 1st January & I'm not off to bed!

For the first time in years (since the mid-late 90s!) I went out for New Year's Eve!!!!

I live in Sydney's entertainment suburb so as I took the escalator down to the train, everyone was heading up! I went 4 stations thru the CBS into inner suburbia for a small singing session - & a good time was had. I got a bus back home having heard the famous Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks & seen a bit of the show on TV - if you missed them, have a look.

Happy New Year!

Nice to hear that 2012 is already in progress somewhere in this world.

2011 is certainly growing stale fast.

Cheerily,

Here's hoping that you
All have a fulfilling year with
Plenty of new friends to meet and
Plenty of old friends to greet. May
You have many opportunities to enjoy music old and

New. Perhaps learn some new songs,
Even relearn some old ones that you thought you'd forgotten.
(We can always rely on Mudcat for the words!) I hope

You and yours have
Every opportunity to enjoy what ever style of music you most delight in
And I hope that your year is successful, happy and productive with any
Resolutions made resolutely kept!

Peter

My favorite day/night of the year. I like the idea that we all step across the line together. (I realize that we do that every day but that's ok- logic has nothing to do with it.)

Happy New Year!

Sandra, you are braver than I would have been! I loathe crowds of that size, and have a moral objection to spending all that money on fireworks which just blow away in the wind. However a story in our local paper yesterday made me smile - the priest in a small town north of here has a pyrotechnics licence and puts on fireworks displays in the small towns hereabouts, donating the money to the church. His business is called ""Holy Smoke" ".

Cheers

Moving: 12 7/2 hour trips (one way) in a box truck plus all the packing/unpacking... Oh, how my poor back aches...

The Short Sale: Ya' buy 'um "As Is" and for the last 6 motnhs I've been fixing stuff that the former owners didn't...

P-Vine's Breast Cancer: Been a all year and she still has one more operation to go before it's all over...

So...

...welcome 2012!!!

Happy new year. The highlight so far being the dog attempting to bark along to Auld Lang Syne with his bone in his mouth, losing said bone under the sofa and trying to bark and recover it. Hilarity did ensue.

Yes, "Auld Lang Syne." There are several threads discussing it here on Mudcat. Wonder how many people "out there" really know much about it.

And another song of Scottish origin, "Amazing Grace" is also one of the better know songs. Interesting.
