Just read the latest on the Paddington train wreck which said the death count could be over 70. Wanted to say to all UK Mudcatters, that I hope you and your families are safe. The details sound horrendoous and as though it may take some time for them to sort everything out to figure out exactly who is missing, etc.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know, you and your fellow countrymen/women are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the thought. As far as I know, no-one of my family was there, though there are members on that line who could have been , and I spent some time waiting for news.

Thanks for the thought, Kat. The accident may have long-term implications for Jim, my husband, who works for Railtrack, sort of. He's been saying that this could happen for a long time now, the system is so ancient and congested. Not like the cambrian line here, which carries a train every couple of hours. Hwyl, Bron.

Me too, Sam. Let's not forget the fire and forensic crews who are still having to deal with the horror there in the trains. Mouldy

As I write I do not yet know if any of my family were involved, did not get any phone calls so I guess not, prayers for the victim's families.

I live in Reading, which is expected to be the town most hit. The London-bound train was one of the main commuter trains from Reading. A friend of mine usually catches that train, but was working in Reading on that day - so I'm really grateful that he wasn't on it. But I feel terrible for those who were, and for all those people who are wondering whether someone they love or know might have been involved. Bless you Kat for starting this thread.

Thank you, Kris. Glad to hear about your friend. Jo77, sending good thoughts your way for your family.

I am so sorry for those who have suffered from this. Grateful to know fellow Mudders are okay, though. May all continue to be safe.

Thanks for the though,Kat. I live in Berkshire and so far don't know anyone missing but with such a high death toll (scheduled to go over 100) the fear of bad news is constantly with us.

My very first thought, selfishly I suppose, when I heard this news on public radio was,"Oh, I hope none of our Mudcateers were involved." I meant to mention something and send you all my love and concern, but I got distracted. Thank you, Kat, for doing so.

Holding you in our hearts, even if you weren't "directly" affected.

Blessed be,

WW

My heartfelt sympathies also go out to the police and rescue workers who deal with the aftermath of a tragedy like this. My neat sister in law McKnees who's a cop told of the harrowing times for the good folks who were at the scene of the Lockerbie bombing. The stress on them sounded harrowing.

Yes, Rick, good point. WW's paper had a very poignant photo, yesterday, of one of the female rescue workers, just sitting on the tracks, looking totally exhausted, after having helped in the recovery of some of the victims. It is very difficult work, both physically and emotionally.

Because the cars are so huge adn heavy, I read they are having to bring an extra big crane for lifting them for more recovery. It must be very frustrating and heartbreaking.

Surrounding them all in love and light, with energy and strength to endure and recover.
