A fan's death

My friend Arnie died last Tuesday. Besides being my friend he was my self-proclaimed number one fan. He was, outside of my household, almost always the first to hear a new song I'd written or one I'd just learned. He made it to nearly all of my gigs and open mic performances and his enthusiasm and encouragement meant a lot to me. You may have someone like that in your life; never underestimate his importance, or take his presence for granted.

The older we get the more often this happens. I've lost 22 friends in the past 10 years.
I share your sadness.

My condolences. I truly understand as it's happened to myself and the people I used to perform with (two such losses were suicides). I recently saw Raul Malo and he dedicated his song, "One More Angel" to a recently deceased fan. A lovely way to pay tribute in cases like this. Blessings and peace.

Such sad news! How long had you known each other? How did you meet? Was his death expected, or sudden? (Don't answer if you'd rather not...)
Such good friends are a special joy. My sincere condolences.

Thanks, V. I'd known him for about 20 years. His wife and my wife were close friends in middle school, reconnected as adults and became just as close. He was diagnosed with leukemia a little over a year ago but he'd been doing well and his death was sudden.
