24 Jan 12 - 05:32 AM (#3295327) Subject: Lyr Req: ? wartime music hall song From: Barb'ry I was talking to a chap yesterday who said they had been looking for the words of a song his grandfather used to sing to him. It was about soldiers he thinks doing target practice and the 'punch line' was about a soldier being shot in the 'penny slot'. His grandfather must have been born around the end of the first world war, so I imagine it must have dated from then. Does anyone have any ideas? I've asked Mark Dowding, who is a fount of music hall knowledge, but he is stumped. Thank you b |
