14 Feb 12 - 05:35 PM (#3308584) Subject: RE: BS: Headin' Back to the Holler... Won't be.. From: Bobert Well, as per usual, it was a slobber-knocker... I had to purposes for going... The first was to retrieve a truck and trailers worth of stuff (wood stove insert (400 pounds). plow (300 pounds), 2 cast concrete pieces (100 pounds each) and about another 500 pounds worth of miscellaneous stuff... The second purpose was supervise the finding and rerouting of a drain pipe to a spec house I built and sold 3 years ago... Well, I did the backfill so I figured (in my mind, that is) i knew exactly where that pipe was and how far down... "In my mind" is a bad place to keep important stuff but it's all we had to go on... Well, my hillbilly pack-hoe guy ended up digging the side of a hill below the house some 20 feet wide before we finally came up that 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe... But we found it but all that ate up my loading time... So I had a couple other hillbillies take my truck and trailer and load what they could (the heaviest stuff)... All this, BTW, occurred while rain and snow pelted us... I was going to stay in the Holler Saturday night but was afraid I'd be iced in so late Saturday afternoon I bid a farewell to all my hillbilly buddies and headed south where I was supposed to meet up with an old friend for breakfast the following morning... Got as far as Loiusa, Va. where I got a room at the Roach Motel, drenked me a few cold beers and watched a good movie on the TV and before noddin' off... Sunday went as planned... Breakfast with old friend in Richmond (Joe's Inn on Shields St.) and another 6 hours behind the wheel with quite a load and a strong wind on the right front of the truck so I laid in behind a "Barnes Transport" tractor trailer and sucked his draft for 200 of the 300 mile drive... In other words??? Normal weekend for an abnormal ol' hillbilly... B~ |
