13 Feb 12 - 06:46 PM (#3308010) Subject: Million Women March: London 3rd March From: GUEST,CS With apologies to Joe for failing the Guest/non-Music rule here, but I hope that other women in the UK might find this information of interest: Million Women Rise 2012 This years march (in something just over a fortnight) is dedicated to the Girl Child, so as well as being appropriate for all campaigners against Male violence towards Women, it may be particularly pertinent for those who may have suffered childhood abuse at the hands of a male family member or acquaintance. I understand that Songs will be welcome. From their blurb: "There is a natural kind of freedom that sisterhood holds… A unity of sisters in a common cause. Glorious, fully self acknowledged, fabulous. Free from Self doubt, Self hatred and Self treachery. The collection of Sisters that honours the feminine spirit and their global contribution. The space for Self love, authentic Self expression and creativity. Brimming with organic, intuitive and non-linear ideas and theories. The stand that all Sisters, everywhere, fearlessly proclaim their bold Self and lead the Charge to healing and transforming the planet. The freedom for all sisters is simply to be true to self. In sisterhood and solidarity Million Women Rise Join us as we demonstrate and celebrate our power as women together through Central London along Oxford St to our Rally in Trafalgar Square Together we can end male violence against women and children it is good!"

If more women started speaking up and asserting themselves, this world might (and that is a very slight chance as Richard has alluded to) be a better place. It's been a long fight so far and it may never end but giving in just ain't an option. |

The solidarity/sisterhood was so exhilarating and wonderful. There were a lot of "enlightened" men who marched with us, too. |

14 Feb 12 - 05:04 AM (#3308183) Subject: RE: Million Women March: London 3rd March From: Musket I'm about to be oppressed. It's Valentine and the local shop has run out of flowers. it's a trip down the cemetery or I will be oppressed in ways Amnesty International would be unnerved by. I might go to London and celebrate my power too. Except I don't have any. White males of middle age are becoming an endangered species, I might just want to march against it. or go to the pub, cant decide which? |

Jolly good :) Hey Leveller, if you're still reading this thread, I came upon an interesting movement recently -which if you've not heard of them before (they've been about since 2007 I believe)- might be of possible interest to you too: https://www.reclaimthefields.org.uk/about/ |

On a cold March day you can expect loads of nipples sitting out like flick switches. Put the tasty tarts among them to the front, monsters to the back please. |
