However, what's being written about Anthony Shadid, "two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign correspondent who died on Thursday at 43", indicates the untimely death of an extraordinary person. Worth taking a look. At Work in Syria, Times Correspondent Dies: Rick Gladstone, NY Times, describes Shadid's death apparently from an asthma attack brought on by being around horses as he was secretly entering Syria. Tyler Hicks, a Times photographer who was with Mr. Shadid, carried his body back across the border to Turkey. NY Times obituary From Readers and Colleagues, an Outpouring of Respect for Anthony Shadid, The Lede blog, NY Times (links to some other coverage there) Remembering 'Intrepid Storyteller' Anthony Shadid, Quil Lawrence, NPR Anthony Shadid: Brilliant Friend And Generous Spirit, JJ Sutherland, NPR ~ Becky in Long Beach |
