From: alison Yep, don't know about the shark one but the goanna one is on a CD by Don Spencer (even got him in the UK doing play school when I was a kid). Good CD for kids.. all the songs are about Aussie animals "Please don't call me a koala bear for I'm not a bear at all" etc. The CD is called "Thumbs up! Australia - Australian animal songs by don spencer It was published by ABC for Kids 1985,88,89,& 93(I know it has a web site.. will try to find it later.) slainte alison |

According to the Oxford Dictionary shark IS pronounced shaahk. i.e. the 'ar' is pronounced as in father. To our ears the consonant 'r' sound in such words as spoken by North Americans & Irish sounds funny. It's supposed to be a vowel modifier.
