Suifinn - Wild Winds CD

From: GUEST,Pete R

I got an old copy of this trad music CD from the library years ago - I think the band is Suifinn and the CD title "Wild Winds". The sleeve was so mangled that none of the details of the CD were legible, except some of the track names. Anyone know anything about the band/CD??? or fill in the gaps in the tune names?
Tracks are:

1.1        Gan ainm
1.2        Christy's cake
1.3        Tobins
2.1        Gan ainm
2.2        Maid of Mount Cisco
3.1        Gan ainm song (Hawthorn trees?)
4.1        Breton dances
5.1        Cape Clear
6.1        Sisters
6.2        Beauty spot
6.3        Lewis reel
7.1        Caide sin
8.1        Donegal reel
8.2        Cha…….
9.1        Banks of Claudy
9.2        Wild winds
10.1        La chanson de Liv……..
11.1        Lament for Hugh (Reynolds?)
12.1        Wave up to the (shore?)
13.1        Dowd's no 9
13.2        Milliner's daughter
13.2        New mown meadows

Cheers
Pete

They lived in the south-west of Ireland, around the Cork / Kerry area. Funnily enough, Aberdeen City library had the CD as well, and I think I still have a few tracks on a cassette tape. Here's what I remember - and it must be at least 15 years later. The fiddler was male and had grey hair and a beard. The bodhran player was a lady with a German-sounding name. The uilleann piper was female. Does that help ?
Probably not, but I can still see the faces in my mind's eye from the CD insert. I did try to find a bit more about them a few years ago, but drew a blank. I'm going to Co. Cork for a musical event in about 6 weeks time. I'll make a few enquiries then. I'll try to find the tracks I recorded, but think I only kept a few - certainly "The Sister's Reel", and also the last track of reels.

i can tell you about them, I was a member, and played on the first cd , but i had left at the time this cd was recorded as i had so much solo work. the piper was geraldine urwin, the fiddler was martin mcgrath, the buzouki player was nic urwin.
the bodhran player was anita heffernan[i think]. the singer was sandra neff, anita may have sung as well
[i think] nic and geraldine have split up, martin mcgrath has returned to lowestoft. nic plays with Amergin, as does anita.
the previous cd was called on muintavara.contact me by pm and i can give you nics mobile number

It's nice that you can still find a few traces of this album on the internet, even though 13 years have passed since the last entry again. We went on holiday to Ireland for the first time in 1992 (from the newly reunified Berlin) and wanted to buy some Irish music in a music shop (they still existed back then). We ended up buying The Chieftains and this album, which had just been released and was playing in the shop. The cassette is still at my parents' house, and my dad wants to digitise it for me now. Best regards!
