Obit: Trevor Stephenson

Just some information for those who knew Trevor from his days with Ossett folk club.

Trevor was involved with Bernard and Greta Shaw in setting up the Ossett Barleycorn Folk Club in the late 70s and he was the MC there for a number of years. He was a very accomplished unaccompanied singer as well as writing and performing monologues.

He died after a long illness and the funeral was in Ossett on Tuesday of this week.

Not Trevor Stephenson from Dindon Sauvage? What a nice bloke. And that Tacoma he played was nice too.

I don't think it's him, Richard.

I came onto this thinking it might be Kent's Trevor Stephenson. It appears that there was more than one. I don't know the one who has passed... but offer condolences nonetheless.

Trevor lived in Ossett in the West Riding of Yorkshire - which is why he set up the folk club there. I'm sure that many Yorkshire folkies will remember him.

This is very sad news, Roger. I have very nice memories of Trevor's songs (especially the John Willies!)
I'm afraid we have lost a lot contact with the Ossett Folk Club since our permanent move to Whitby, so this came as a shock as we din't know he had been poorly.

Hi Tony

Yes, John Willie's Ferret always went down well. As you know, I am no longer in Ossett but Geoff sent me an email about Trevor and I went to the funeral.
