BS: Questionnaire about listening to ITM

I'm a student at University College Dublin and for my research, I'm looking into emotional responses to Irish traditional music. I have produced a questionnaire in order to get a bit of a better understanding of the context of the listening experience. Also, I'm trying to compile a list of +- 20 tunes to use for my in-depth interviews. I was hoping that you would like to answer my questionnaire. It is a very short one, which only takes about 5 minutes. I'd be very grateful!!

I am going to call a local friend who, with her grown son, plays Irish traditional almost exclusively by preference. She is not online but her SO is and I'm going to see if they would like me to forward the survey to her.

The survey is a good one. I like Irish but I don't really play it. I definitely have an emotional reaction to it when I hear Tommy Sands or Mick Moloney or Eugene O'Donnell or Luke Kelly...

Thank you very much, Beer, for the link (I'm new to this forum so I didn't know how to make the link work)!! And Ebbie, thanks a lot for trying to forward it, I really appreciate that!

I was filling out the form, but down a few questions it seems to go over to dance music. I don't dance. So I stopped.

It is about Irish traditional music in the form of dance tunes. This is because my focus is not on songs and airs.

I received a suggestion from someone to change the term 'performance' into 'playing'. I am aware of the fact that music is not performed, but played at sessions. Sorry for the mistake. I have therefore made an improved version of my questionnaire. The link to this is:

Well done, Linde. I think that was me. ;-)

I don't dance either- the survey is about listening not dancing. I do agree though that "dance" is a poor description of much session music.

I too opted out, perhaps for a different reason. I know hundreds of ITM songs and tunes but I can't recall any ITDM titles. Could that be because there are so few that I know of with words ? Words connect me to a song. Perhaps

Either that or my memory is shot. We're talkin 50/50 here, eh.

Good luck with it!
