I imagine that now that Bluesman has announced his intention to be there with his friends from the Todenkopf SS, ticket sales will slow down.

Poxicat has me a little confused, I don't understand these references I'm afraid.

But I'm really looking forward to Banbury Song & Ale, always an excellent weekend!

I understand Poxicat perfectly. A general reading of "Bluesman" posts should elucidate, but express clarification would breach one of Max's rules.

Some of the flavour of Bluesman is on this thread here: -

OK we see some of you might be worried. All we know is that the Song at Banbury & Ale has always been a warm peaceable gathering and will continue to be so! D&M

My guess is that Guest Bluesman won't be anywhere near Banbury that weekend. I think that he is a troll and a flamer who just gets off on rattling the Mudcat cage.

No comment is the best response; just use the thread to publicise the Banbury Folk and Ale.

The stench from Bluesman on the other thread just keeps getting worse. I would have suggested that a certain banner (somewhat similar to "Rock against Racism" but not exactly the same) be widely flown at Banbury.

On the other thread it's obvious that he is just poking a stick. Ignore him......discuss Banbury!!

Lets hope that this wonderful Spring weather continues throughout April although nothing would surprise me ..... we did have snow at the Song & Ale weekend one year!

Cheers! D&M

Splendid! A thoroughly enjoyable couple of days on any one of a number of levels. Great singarounds, huge choruses, fine company and beer. And four* of the five surprise guests I saw were blinkin' good, too, including an absolutely sublime rendition of Pity Poor Felons on Saturday night. (Who were that trio? Magical.)

Thanks Derek, Mary and all the crew for a fine do.

Cheers, Hamish

*Yes, I'm afraid I have to mention Folk Law who were simply awful.

Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall were the trio. I agree it was certainly a great version of the song. The one sung around these parts doesn't seem to have the "in prison lie" line in the chorus.
