Tech: Mudcat personal data

When I go to the "Membership" page, I can't see the form that used to come up to edit personal data - has this been disabled?

You have to log in on that page (Membership) to get to your Personal Page. The Membership page just doesn't go where you remember being, (even if you're already logged in).

You have to go to your Personal Page to get the link to see or change your personal info.

If you enter a login on the Membership page, it should take you to where you'll see a link to your personal stuff, or you can click the link on your Personal Page to get there.

Correction, I think.

I don't find the link on my Personal Page either.

The Membership Page is where you log in. You have to be logged in to see your Personal Info.

I believe you only get the offer to update your personal information each time you submit a new log in.

You can't (if I remember right) log in if you're already logged in, so you'd need to log out and then log back in to get the link.

This may be a bit fuzzy since I don't think I've needed to log back in for a couple of years, at least when I wasn't in a rush. Maybe I should do it again some day just for practice.

Or maybe something has changed (?).

I was looking yesterday, because I thought I might identify myself better. I can't get to any personal information, or a place to put it. While logged in, or after logging out and then in. I suspect that such a place does not exist. :)

If you go to Member Photos & Info in the Quick Links drop down (top of the page - press Go after selecting) and then click on Profiles you can see the profiles already set up. That page (Member Photos & Info) also gives you links to use to get photos and profile info set up, but you can't do it yourself.

I just tried and Login doesn't let you set up personal info (JiK - I can't remember if it used to either!).

The login page (Membership) doesn't tell you anything about profiles, just what to do to register/get logged in if you're having trouble.

The Profiles at Member Photos & Info are only for the ones who've asked to have a "public profile." In actuality, a very low percentage of people here have a profile there, and it's always (as far as I can recall) been maintained by "staff" and not editable by individual members.

The Profile in question, I assumed, is the info mudcat needs to know (the "member information" file) to make sure you're nice people and for mudcat to know how to contact you when you need help. That's the only one I could think of that's ever been editable by individual members.

I'll note that the info is a little out of date at the Photos & Info page, since it says "contact Jeff" for changes, and I don't believe Jeff has been around for a couple of years(?).

The only time I remember noticing the update link is when I did a new login when my cookie got crunched. When you filled in the required info and hit the Submit it took you to a page that showed what you had entered, and suggested that you could edit it. That update function may have been (temporarily?) disabled due to Max's maintenance and fixemups.

That answers that then. Thanks! I don't need to have a profile, as such, I just like to make sure that people can find some kind of additional information (country, interests, whatever) to help get a little perspective. No matter, Mr. Google works too. :)

Hi, folks -

Max had to lock off the "membership" page registration information to ward off impersonation problems - but we'd still like to keep your information up-to-date - especially your e-mail address. If you have changes in that data, please let me know by e-mail and I'll update your records.
