...and I'm also damned annoyed at YouTube for making the sound and vision on my perfectly formed video slightly out of synch! I'm uploading the thing to Vimeo as I write this - just to see if it's any better.

YouTube's a very handy site, but there are things about it I'm beginning to detest - the arbitrary changes to channel appearance, the ridiculous claims about "copyright" for stuff in the public domain, and the poor quality sound and vision when compared with sites like Vimeo.

I'm actually contemplating hosting my videos on my own web site...

But thanks for the post, Dan - you're very kind!

Will, you have exquisite taste in 'choons'. Tell me, will hordes of West Ham fans be trying to hire you to play at matches.
Thank you.
Charlie.

Ah yes - the Hammers' connection...

Not only that, but ice hockey as well: (Wikipedia): "In Norway, the song is better known as the club anthem of Sparta Warriors, a Sarpsborg-based ice hockey club. The Norwegian version, rewritten and performed by Kai Robert Johansen, is titled "BlÄ Bobler" (Blue Bubbles)."

Glad you like it, Charlie. I'm particularly fond of waltzes, and the golden period of music, for me, is from around the 1890s to the early 1930s. Haunting melodies, often simple, but ones that twine around you!

I just hope Bubbles is willing to reciprocate...

Very nice, Will. (It seems in sync to me.) I see that you are doing the complete song. With so many of these oldies, the verse is forgotten and only the chorus lives on. Not so with you.

I like the pearly highlights in your hair, too.

Lovely playing, Will. It gives me some ideas as to how I can make best use of my little tenor guitar when I have it back from storage.

I can perceive the slight out-of-sinc issue of which you complain, but I must say I'm so used to seeing things that way online it not a problem for me as a listener/viewer.

Thanks folks. I take great care with getting my stuff in synch, so I can tell if it's not been processed properly by YouTube - which, I must admit, only happens now and then. It may be slight, but I spot it straightaway!

Some verses demand to be played - others are less than memorable. I pick and choose. One of the things I like about Leon Redbone is the fact that he nearly always sings the complete tune - verse and chorus - on his albums. There's a lovely verse to that old waltz, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" - and, as far as I know, he's the only person to sing it.

As for Bubbles reciprocating... 'twould be telling...

Very nice and excellent playing. Your multitrack recordings always sound really good.

I only really noticed it was out of sync because you had mentioned it, but then it was obvious.

Nice one, Will, speaking as someone who lives about a 1/4 of a mile from the Boleyn ground it is good to hear the verses and not just the (often shouted and not sung) chorus!! Thanks
